Our Story

Perfect time, perfect person

Almost everyone who knows us were surprised that either of us decided to get married. That's the kind of life changing person we both have been for each other. We started the relationship with constant uncertainty of our plans thanks to corona. What was supposed to be a beautiful six months to be spent in Boston and New York turned out to be lots of happiness and crying over video calls over a course of a nine month long distance relationship. And this made our airport hug in Chennai even more special. Thanks to the social construct, we now have to get married to live together and spend time with each other guilt free and we took advantage of this social constrcut to come up with the dream wedding that we always wanted!

How it began

Overgrown cynical adolescent who didn't believe in a lot of things until Roshni came into my life. Little bit of mixed feelings that I have to share the food that I've been cooking for myself till now but mostly happy that I get to cook for someone I love for the rest of my life. Super glad that I found someone who is as obsessed with clicking pictures as me!

Roshni

For an outgoing introvert who thrives only in a familiar setup, meeting a boy in a foreign and alien situation and to have found that comfort and familiarity immediately was something I never imagined would happen to me. Everything that I have fantasised about in a partner came to life in the form of Ajay. Super grateful to have someone who is as passionate about things as I am, a person with whom I can share crazy stupid memes with and laugh about it for an entire day and who can cook amazing drool worthy food and fill up my heart almost instantly.

The first time I saw her

All my comments about romance being incorrectly portrayed in movies became false when I could feel all those cliched emotions the moment I saw her. My heart was beating super fast as the time came closer and closer to meet her. I kept looking in my mirror a million times to make sure I look proper. I was tasting the vathakozhambu and rasam that I was cooking for her every few minutes so that it is perfect. And when I saw her standing across the street from my apartment, with all her glory, I was literally dumbstruck for a few seconds. I couldn't say anything that I had been practicing for so many days for this moment. The moment that I fell in love with this most amazing woman. The moment that is etched in my mind that I'll never forget.

The first time I saw him

Life took a very surprising turn when I decided to meet this boy. Everything that happened felt right out of a cheesy romantic movie, I did not believe in any of it until it actually happened to me. It was a cold winter morning in Boston, I was far far away from home, all set and ready to meet this boy I like. After playing all the possible scenarios in my head for this moment, I wanted everything to be super perfect. From picking the right outfit to changing my hair a million times, I rehearsed my hello's and hi's, my hand gestures, body language and everything. The five minute Uber drive to his place felt forever. My heart was beating a million times faster as I got out of the car and saw him smiling and waving at me from across the street. Words started stumbling out of my mouth. Everything came to a still as he welcomed me with open arms and that was the moment I felt home in a completely foreign land.
